Housing
We Love AK lets you visually search Craigslist housing in Alaska. Searching is easy and
intuitive if you are familiar with Google Maps. As an example, if you wanted to search for housing in
Mid Town Anchorage you
would bring up the Mid Town Anchorage link.
This page has your location at the top. As you can tell
from the bolding, Mid Town
Anchorage is in Southcentral region, city of
Anchorage and in the
MidTown part of town. The next lines show you the most popular
housing at the moment in this area. Most popular housing means these postings that have received
the highest number of clicks for this area. Below the 'Most Popular Housing' postings is
the Google Map Alaska Craigslist Data Mash Up.You will see images
indicating a house posting in this area. You can click on this house to see the posting title
in a bubble which links to the source page. Source Pages come up as new windows or tabs. You can close out the
new window/tab when you are done looking at the posting and you will return to this Alaska
Craigslist Google Map Mash Up Data.
Using the Google Map users can zoom in and out of the map area with the + and - buttons. The map
can be manually dragged as well. When the mouse pointer is an open hand on the map, the user can click, hold, and drag
the map to any new location desired. If we are on the Mid Town example from above, you could drag the map right
to the Eastside of Anchorage by Muldoon. You will notice there are no data bubbles of in this section. If you
look at the top of the page, next to the MidTown location is the Eastside.
While you can drag the map right to get to the Eastside of Anchorage, it would be better to click on the
Eastside link above to move your map
to this new page full of new Eastside
housing data.
Housing Postings that appear yellow on the map mean the postings
are less than two days old. The postings are geocoded from the original ads. Not all geocodes are
accurate so use this software at your own risk. This page was meant as a helpful tool for Alaskans
to find stuff.
Now it's your turn to go find some housing. Choose your region to start:
Interior
Southcentral
Southeast
.
If you are in the Anchorage area, your region is Southcentral.
